Mr. Andrew Halls

~ senior School Headmaster ~

Mr. Halls joined King’s in January 2008 as Headmaster after ten years as Master of Magdalen College. At King’s, his initial focus was on ensuring the move to an all-IB sixth form went smoothly whilst bringing rigorous scrutiny to the schools’ finances and management structures, creating foundations on which to build future success. That success has manifested itself in many different ways. The school enjoys a renowned position for its academic excellence, commanding the heights of the UK school leagues tables.
At his initiative, the sixth form became co-educational in 2010, a move which materially strengthened the teaching dynamic for all. Under his leadership music, drama and sports have flourished and grown. This has been marked by Mr. Halls’ principle that, whilst King’s students are expected to apply themselves, they should enjoy themselves too. All of this has been undertaken with an understanding and respect for the traditions, heritage, and ethos of King’s – indeed Mr. Halls is himself an exemplar of the very values for which the school stands. Alongside his very high standards, Mr. Halls is an extremely empathetic, understanding, entertaining and thoroughly decent, kind and considerate man, who will be greatly missed by all in the King’s community.
