The Friends of King’s

Christmas Community Tea

The Community Tea has been a long-standing annual tradition at King’s College School. The event is one of the highlights of the year for over 200 elderly and infirm guests who attend from our local community and care homes. Each year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the King’s school community which so willingly volunteers to give time and donations.

Unfortunately this year, as last, we will not be able to hold the event at school due to the ongoing risks of Covid-19 and the vulnerabilities of our elderly guests. Last year the event was quickly re-imagined, and Christmas hampers and goodie bags were sent to those individuals and care homes residents who usually attend the lunch. We were humbled by the generosity of parents, which enabled us to send gifts to over 200 people.

This year we still want to reach out to those who would have joined us for a Christmas tea. We will be sending Christmas hampers to 25 local care homes, and 9 of those will be visited by a minibus with carol singers from the junior school, bringing Christmas cheer. We will also be sending about 100 goodie bags packed with Christmas items to individuals with whom we are in touch with via local charities.

Thank you for all your generous donations and volunteer sign up this year. With your help, our little elves will ensure the hampers and goodie bags reach our community to spread the Christmas cheer! We hope to share some photos with you after the event. Best wishes to you all for the festive season.

We would like to ask for your support in one of the following ways:

Volunteer to help

Drop off donations or help us with deliveries: we would love to include some home-baked cakes, mince pies and gingerbread biscuits in our parcels and we know that there are many talented bakers at KCS. We will also need drivers who can deliver to an agreed number of local homes (probably two per driver). To volunteer for this, please click on SignUpGenius

Sourcing items for hampers and goodie bags

We would love to hear from you if you have any professional contacts in the retail/beauty industries or you can help us source items such as hand-cream and candles.

Please get in touch with either Tina Hene or Jackie Harvey with regards to the sourcing of items.

Christmas Service Recording

The Junior School are recording some carols which will also be sent to our guests

Thank you so much.

We very much appreciate your support and look forward to future years when we can welcome our guests in person.
